Presiden terpilih Rusia Vladimir Putin dan kepala negara Dmitry Medvedev pada Selasa bergabung dengan lebih dari 100.000 orang dalam arak-arakan untuk merayakan hari buruh 1 Mei di Moskow.

Putin dan Medvedev memimpin para buruh berjalan di pusat kota Moskow. Para buruh membentangkan spanduk pabrik mereka dan melambaikan bendera Rusia dengan iringan musik orkestra.

Polisi mengatakan dalam sebuah pernyataan bahwa sekitar 120.000 orang ambil bagian dalam gerakan itu.

Pesawat ulang alik Enterprise yang terbang dari Washington ke New York dalam gendongan pesawat Boeing 747 membuat aksi dramatis dengan melewati patung Liberty dan terbang rendah di sepanjang Sungai Hudson.

Dalam perjalanan menuju John F. Kennedy International Airport, pesawat untuk misi penerbangan luar angkasa yang sudah habis masa pakainya itu terbang rendah di sepanjang sungai, memberikan pemandangan luar biasa bagi penduduk New York dan New Jersey.

Penerbangan Enterprise lepas landas dari Dulles International Airport di Washington sekitar pukul 09.00 pagi.

Setelah terbang di atas patung Liberty dan jembatan George Washington, Enterprise dibawa kembali ke daratan untuk menyapa anak-anak sekolah berpakaian astronot yang menyambut kedatangannya.

Anggota kru pesawat ulang alik itu juga datang menyambut, termasuk pensiunan Angkatan Udara Mayor Jenderal Joe Engle yang pertama kali mengomandani kru penerbangan pertama dalam uji pesawat ulang alik itu pada akhir 1970-an.

 Demonstrasi Kuala Lumpur berujung bentrok.

Ibukota negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (KL), dibanjiri sekitar 25.000 demonstran yang melakukan jalan bersama menuju Central Square di tengah kota KL menuntut perubahan pada sistem Pemilu.

Para pengunjuk rasa meyakini aturan yang berlaku terhadap sistem Pemilu akan menguntungkan Perdana Menteri Najib Razak beserta koalisinya untuk Pemilu berikutnya. 

Demonstrasi ini merupakan salah satu aksi terbesar di Malaysia selama satu dekade terakhir.

Aksi ini didukung oleh kalangan kelompok reformis yang didukung oleh oposisi, Bersih.

Parlemen setempat telah meloloskan beberapa reformasi terkait Pemilu pada bulan ini, tetapi para aktivis menyatakan reformasi itu tidak menyelesaikan akar masalah dari kecurangan dalam Pemilu yang memperbesar peluang partai berkuasa (Barisan Nasional) untuk kembali menang.

Polisi anti huru hara Malaysia melepaskan gas air mata dan menggunakan water cannon ditujukan kepada demonstran yang memenuhi tengah kota KL.

Polisi Malaysia telah memblokade kawasan Merdeka Square dengan kawat berduri dan barikade. Polisi pun mulai menembakkan gas air mata ketika barikade ini di dekati pengunjuk rasa.

Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di Jerman tolak kedatangan anggota DPR


Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) Jerman menolak kedatangan rombongan Komisi I DPR di Jerman. Mereka mengabadikan penolakan itu lewat Youtube. Ada 3 poin penting yang mereka tekankan, antara lain DPR tak usah mahal-mahal terbang jauh dengan uang rakyat hanya untuk rapat dengan KBRI dan KJRI.
Berikut 3 poin penting permintaan PPI Jerman, PPU Berlin dan NU yang menolak kedatangan Komisi I di Jerman dalam siaran pers :


1.Transparansi dari setiap anggota DPR RI mengenai agenda kunjungan ke luar negeri beserta biaya yang akan   dikeluarkan. Informasi tersebut harus dipublikasikan paling lambat 1 bulan sebelum keberangkatan.
2. Melaporkan hasil kunjungan tersebut kepada rakyat melalui website DPR RI dan media massa.
3. Pengertian Ibu Bapak wakil rakyat untuk tidak menghamburkan uang rakyat dengan terbang ribuan kilometer untuk Rapat Dengar Pendapat dengan KBRI dan KJRI. Hal ini bisa dilakukan lewat tele-konferens, atau ketika pejabat-pejabat KBRI dan KJRI berada di Jakarta.

Melihat rendahnya urgensi kunjungan dan dana sebesar 3,1 miliar Rupiah yang telah dikeluarkan untuk membiayai perjalanan ini, PPI Jerman, PPI Berlin, dan NU Cabang Istimewa Jerman sepakat untuk menolak kedatangan Ibu Bapak Wakil Rakyat beserta keluarga dan rombongannya.

Suara klakson kapal yang memekakan telinga berbunyi panjang menjelang tengah malam di tengah Samudera Atlantik yang sunyi. Tepat di dasar lautan, bangkai kapal Titanic bersemayam untuk 100 tahun lamanya.
Itulah penanda dimulainya upacara duka cita dan tabur bunga di atas kapal pesiar MS Balmoral yang mengadakan pelayaran Titanic Memorial Cruise. 1.309 Wisatawan, termasuk anak cucu korban kapal Titanic ikut dalam pelayaran khusus ini.


Sebuah klakson kapal balasan terdengar dari kapal pesiar Azamara Journey dari jarak beberapa ratus meter. Kapal Azamara dan Balmoral berlayar untuk memperingati tenggelamnya Titanic yang tenggelam di kedalaman 2,5 mil di bawah mereka. Seperti dilansir dari The Sun, Senin (16/4/2012) Balmoral berangkat dari Southhampton dan Azamara berangkat dari New York. Mereka bertemu di lautan Atlantik, 400 mil lepas pantai Newfoundland, tepat di lokasi Titanic tenggelam.


Tepat pada Minggu, 15 April pukul 2.20 dini hari, tepat saat Titanic tenggelam ke dasar lautan pada 15 April 1912 silam, tiga karangan bunga dilarung ke lautan. Para wisatawan membayangkan, 100 tahun lalu ada 1.500 orang yang tenggelam ke dasar lautan sementara 700 orang yang selamat terombang-ambing di lautan.
Di antara penumpang MS Balmoral adalah Jane Allen cucu Thomas Pears, Claire Owen cucu Patrick O'Connor, Patricia Watt cucu Kelasi II George McKie. Kakek mereka semua adalah korban Titanic. Bersama mereka adalah para wisatawan dari 28 negara yang sudah sejak 5 tahun lalu memesan tiket kapal Titanic Memorial Cruise ini.
"Semua yang selamat pun hidupnya sulit. Buat saya ini adalah perjalanan spiritual dan momen pentingnya adalah di tempat Titanic tenggelam," kata Jane.


Banyak penumpang Balmoral yang sengaja memakai baju zaman dulu ala Jack dan Rose yang diperankan Leonardi Dicaprio dan Kate Winslett dalam film Titanic. Ada yang memakainya saat makan malam, ada yang memakainya sepanjang waktu dan sepintas membuat suasana kapal kembali ke zaman dulu.

Titanic Memorial Cruise yang dilakoni kapal pesiar MS Balmoral akan sampai di New York hari Jumat mendatang. Semoga sampai saat itu perjalanannya pun lancar-lancar saja.
